I insist on working as team - no matter how small the job is. There's this misunderstanding of the photographer can do *everything* is clearly missing the point. The point is, even if I can do everything, I only have two arms, two legs, and one head. I can't really do all tasks simultaneously now, can I?

I have this standard with all make-up artists who work with me. He/She has to know his/her skills (because I don't). He/She has to be very meticulous for his/her make-up. I have seen some young MUA's work being so sloppy, that when I confront with them about their work, they shrug their shoulders, and insist that I can fix it with Photoshop. What the hell?! If I want to do make-up in Photoshop, what do I need you here for?! You know, some people just don't know where one's stand.

Creativity is a bonus too for all MUAs. Most good MUAs I worked with are truly artists/designers in their own rights. I know few of them are quite good in drawing, painting and illustrating. I guess it's just natural - cause both field need to work with pen, brush and color palettes. ;-)

Jeremy is sure one of them. He's not only good with his make-up skills, but he's also a avid photographer - he knows and understands how both work together, and that saves me lots of talking.

I often prefer to get the MUA involve in briefing before the shoot - make sure that both the bride, the MUA, and myself all are on the same page then we all go back to prepare ourselves for the shoot. I would brief Jeremy of what kind of settings I will be shooting; he would let me know what type of make-up he will be putting on - making sure that those make-up are suitable for our bride looks - I will go back and go over what atmosphere will be shooting, etc. All works together as a package to minimize misunderstanding and screw-ups. We basically met one time about a week before the shoot, share some references, and off we go.

Not only did he done all the make-up, he also helped me for the shoot. Thanks Jeremy!
